Terms
Classes, events, gifts and books
The plain terms on which Vedanta Community, the public name of the Vedanta Institute Durban Trust, offers its classes, events, books and the gifts it receives.
Draft for the trust’s approval, 19 October 2026.
Classes and events
- The weekly class and the short course are free. Voluntary contributions are welcome and keep the classes free; they are gifts to the trust and are not refunded.
- Where an event carries a registration fee, the fee is stated on the event page. It is refunded in full if the event is cancelled by the community. If you cannot attend, write to us before the event; we will transfer your place to the next one where we can.
- Classes and events start on time. Please be seated fifteen minutes before a talk in Durban and join an online class five minutes early.
- Registration gives you the Zoom link for your own use. Please do not share it; others are welcome to register themselves.
- Classes are a conversation. What people share in a class stays in the class, and we ask everyone to keep it so.
Gifts
- Gifts to the trust are voluntary and are not refunded. A receipt is issued for every gift.
- A monthly gift continues until you tell us to stop, which you can do at any time by email.
Books
- Prices include shipping within South Africa. We confirm the price by email before you pay.
- A book can be returned within 30 days of delivery if it is unused and in its original condition and packaging. Keep your proof of purchase. Write to us first and we will tell you where to send it; return postage is paid by you unless the book arrived damaged or we sent the wrong one.
- A refund is paid to the original method of payment once the returned book has been received and checked, usually within ten working days. A book with signs of use may receive a partial refund.
- A damaged or defective book is replaced. Tell us within seven days of delivery, with a photograph if you can.
Photographs and recordings
Talks, workshops and classes may be photographed or filmed for the community’s own publicity. Tell us at the door, or in the class chat, if you would rather not appear. Online classes are not published.
Care
The classes support people and are no substitute for medical or psychological treatment. If you or a young person in your care is struggling, please speak to a doctor or a counsellor as well.
